It’s only six hours by car from Morgantown to Manhattan, but it’s fair to say that Hillary took the scenic route over the course of several years. Indeed, for my globetrotting wife’s thirtieth birthday I created this poster featuring all the wonderful (and admittedly less wonderful) towns she’s ever lived in. Using vintage postcards as references I made my own illustrations of each town’s most recognizable landmarks. This is easier for some cities than for others (there’s hardly an abundance of photographic evidence of Győr, Hungary). The original sketches were executed in haste, but took on a finer quality when scanned, blown up and recolored digitally. I then had the idea of converting each of them into individual postcards. The framed original now hangs beside Hillary’s desk.
